Capital:
Mexicali
State Population:
2,750,000
Description:
Baja
California Norte is the northernmost state in Mexico. It’s
beautiful coastlines and warm temperatures make it a popular
destination for tourists throughout the continent of North
America. The climate is semi-desert, so it can be quite hot
and dry during the summer months, but quite moderate and attractive
for fall and winter.
The biggest cities in Baja are the border towns of Tijuana
and Mexicali. Most of the cities in Baja are geared to attract
tourists, and there are a plethora of fine restaurants and
shops featuring duty-free shopping to be found. Baja is also
the mecca for the outdoor enthusiast. Fishing, boating, diving,
whale watching – if it involves the ocean, it can be
done in Baja. But don’t forget to bring your off road
vehicle or ATV and go inland as well, for the sand dunes in
Baja offer some of the best off road terrain to be found anywhere.
The world-famous Baja 500 and Baja 1000 races happens here
every fall.
