Capital:
Puebla
State Population: 4,624,239
Description:
The state of Puebla is located to the south east
of Mexico City. Puebla is a fairly densely populated state
with a rich history.
At the time of the arrival of the Spanish in the early 1500's,
the area of Puebla was a major population center for the Aztec
people. The Spanish conquerers violently overtook the city,
and then erected churches with materials from the surrounding
Aztec temples. The combinations of Indian temples and Spanish
colonial architecturethroughout the state makes for some interesting
site seeing.
Puebla is also known for its moles - which are complex
sauces made from chilies, chocolate, and other exotic spices.
