Here is a list of holidays and other events going on in Mexico for the month of May:

May 1st - Dia del Trabajo - this is Labor Day for Mexico, a day to honor workers throughout the country. This is a national holiday so banks, schools and government offices will be closed.

May 3rd - Dia de la Santa Cruz - Day of the Holy Cross - also known as Day of the Construction Worker. On this day you will see a cross displayed at many construction sites. This holiday is celebrated throughout Latin America and not just Mexico.

May 5th - Cinco de Mayo / Batella de Puebla - this is a national holiday remembering the date back in 1862 when the Mexican army defeated the French military forces in the state of Puebla.

May 10th - Dia de la Madre - this is the celebration of Mother's Day in Mexico. Unlike in the United States, Mexico celebrates Mother's Day on the same date every year. If you are planning to eat out on this date, plan ahead because all the restaurants will be packed!

May 15th - Dia del Maestro - Teacher's Day - a day to honor teachers and recognize the importance they hold in life.

May 10-16 - International Jazzfest - Puebla - a weeklong festival dedicated to educating old and new fans alike to one of the most popular contemporary forms of music.

May 14th - Rosarito - Ensenada Fun Ride - an annual bike riding event that has taken place for over 30 years. The ride is 50 miles through scenic northern Baja and it attracts bike enthusiasts from around the world.

May 23rd - Festival Del Caballo, Arte Y Vino - Horse, Art & Wine Festival - This all-day festival highlights 3 things Baja is famous for - horses, art and wine. This annual festival is held at the equestrian facilities of Adobe Guadalupe Vineyards & Inn in Ensenada.
