Surfing La Fonda - Baja North - Mexico
La Fonda almost always has something to surf, so if you can't find surf at any other breaks, check out La Fonda before calling it a day.
La Fonda, which is located at K-58, has a fully developed campground on the bluff above the surf area. Parking is around $5 per day and camping is about $10 per night. The campground can get a bit crowded, and it is known to get rowdy at times. The parking is secure, so vehicles don't get stolen in the campgrounds, but there have been numerous reports of cars getting broken into within the campground. So don't leave your valuables in your car - especially at night.
La Fonda can be a wave for beginners and advanced surfers when the swell is not too big, but when things get large, beginners should not paddle out at La Fonda. When big, the paddle out can be punishing. If you can make it out to the lineup, you may be rewarded with some powerful hollow barrels. In medium to smaller swells, La Fonda is a great all around fun spot with multiple peaks that allow the crowds to spread out.
