Surfing Todos Santos - Killers - Baja North - Mexico
Isla de Todos Santos - also known as Killers - is one of the biggest and most powerful waves in the world. It is the Mavericks and Jaws of Mexico.
Todos Santos - the island - is not a casual surf spot. Killers - the break - is one of biggest and most powerful waves on the planet with the potential to produce 50 foot faces. The area is bubbling with strange currents and rocks, so if you are caught inside during a brutal set, you may never be the same again. This is only for serious big wave riders.
If you make the boat ride out to Todos Santos, and Killers is serving up conditions above your skill level, there are also some smaller breaks such as Chickens and Urchins that you may want sample.
Isla de Todos Santos is an island located about 12 miles off the coast from Ensenada. There are multiple charter boats that will take surfers out to the island for day trips. We can not recommend anyone at this time, but do a quick google search for the current boats that are looking for business. Most trips are organized as day trips, but it is also possible to camp on the island overnight.
If you are going to drive to Ensenada, make sure to purchase your Mexican auto insurance online before you leave on your trip. When you get to Ensenada, make sure to park in the most secure parking area possible. Don't even consider parking on the side of a road or anywhere that does not employ a live human security guard - or your vehicle may not be there when you get back.
By the way - this is not the town of Todos Santos located in the Baja Sur!
