Surfing Salsipuedes - Baja North - Mexico

Salsipuedes was one of the legendary truly great northern Baja surf spots - but it is currently closed due to new private development projects.

All current reports tell that access to Salsipuedes in now gated and locked. Some claim it is some sort of hoax to keep the surf crowds out, but we have not heard of anyone who has successfully surfed here in a while. If you are curious, check it out next time you pass KM 87 in Baja, and let us know what you find.

A few years ago Salsipuedes had decent campgrounds near the break, but the steep dirt road down to the beach required 4X4 vehicle. When the swell gets over six feet, Salsipuedes serves up a beautiful and powerful right point break.

If you want to check it out, take the KM 87 exit marked Salsipuedes off the toll road and head towards the beach. Remember - this journey requires four-wheel-drive, so don't take your Honda Civic down here! If you run into a locked gate, this means access denied - bummer.
